Franklin Clinton is one of the three main protagonists of Grand Theft Auto V and later appears as a major character in Grand Theft Auto Online.
Franklin Clinton was born and raised in South Los Santos. After losing his mother at a young age, he grew up around gang culture and small-time crime alongside Lamar Davis. Over time, Franklin became frustrated with street life and wanted something bigger for himself.
In Grand Theft Auto V, Franklin works as a repossession agent for Simeon Yetarian before meeting Michael De Santa. The partnership with Michael eventually pulls Franklin into high-profile robberies and major criminal operations across Los Santos. Throughout the story, Franklin struggles between loyalty to his old neighborhood and his desire for success.
Years after the events of GTA V, Franklin becomes a wealthy businessman and co-founds F. Clinton and Partner in GTA Online. During The Contract update, he works alongside the GTA Online Protagonist, Dr. Dre, Lamar Davis and Imani while running a celebrity solutions agency in Los Santos.
Franklin is ambitious, calm and far more level-headed than Michael or Trevor. Despite his criminal background, he often acts as the voice of reason within the group and attempts to leave behind the destructive cycle of gang violence in Los Santos.
Michael becomes Franklin’s mentor and introduces him to larger criminal operations.
Trevor eventually becomes one of Franklin’s closest criminal partners.
Lamar Davis is Franklin’s longtime best friend from South Los Santos.
Tanisha eventually reunites with Franklin and later becomes his wife.
Imani works together with Franklin at F. Clinton and Partner.
Lester Crest works with Franklin on multiple heists and operations.
Dr. Dre becomes one of Franklin’s most important clients during The Contract update.
